Chip Riffling

With hours upon hours spent at live action poker games, there is a hefty amount of time you have with pretty much nothing to do. Though while hands are going on you should be paying attention to the action, taking notes on other players, and etc., it can become tiresome just sitting with no action for your body. For this reason, the act of chip riffling, or chip shuffling, is the most common sound of any online poker room.

Turn on any broadcast of a online poker event and you will hear the background noise full of the sounds of chips rattling against chips. Players who have logged their hours can find themselves quickly quite adept at the effort of chip shuffling, simply from countless sessions full of practice. The habit, at some point, becomes unconsciousan act you do as easily as twiddling your thumbs or chewing gum.

While the sound might be annoying to some, and certain this isn’t a supremely exciting way to pass time, it does give your hands something to do. Getting good at chip riffling can also give you a slight advantage in that if you look like you’ve spent time handling chips, people might be more likely to give you credit for knowing what you are doing with the cards too.
