Players who have logged their hours can find themselves quickly quite adept at the effort of chip shuffling, simply from countless sessions full of practice. The habit, at some point, becomes unconsciousan act you do as easily as twiddling your thumbs or chewing gum.
While the sound might be annoying to some, and certain this isn’t a supremely exciting way to pass time, it does give your hands something to do. Getting good at chip riffling can also give you a slight advantage in that if you look like you’ve spent time handling chips, people might be more likely to give you credit for knowing what you are doing with the cards too.
