The Astounding Story of Stephen A. Schwarzman

The story of Stephen A. Schwarzman is one of success and dedication. A year ago Stephen was named the 53rd most wealthy in the United States by Forbes Magazine, but it’s not simply money which makes this story so interesting but his undreamt of success in the financial industry and his generosity to education and the liberal arts. The Blackstone Group mogul is a one-of-a-kind role model and his life exemplifies the fact that dedication and hard work are fundamental in achieving success. Stephen A. Schwarzman and Peter Peterson founded the private equity and financial advisory firm Blackstone Group in the eighties. These days the Blackstone Group is a household name boasting holdings as variegated as, for example, Apria Healthcare and Universal Studios Parks, to name but a few. Spending most of his formative years in Pennsylvania, Stephen commenced his schooling in the Abingdon school district. After graduating from high school he went on to study further at the legendary Yale University in Connecticut and received his degree in 1969. He undertook an MBA at the famed Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. Eventually he became part of the team at the leading investment bank Lehman Brothers. Steve was assigned the role of managing director at the age of only thirty-one. Stephen Schwarzman volunteered his services as an adjunct professor at the prestigious Yale School of Business Management in addition to giving financial support to many charitable organizations, education, and the liberal arts. To name another example of his engagement, he is the Chairman to the Board of Trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan. On top of all that, he announced with pride on March 11, 2008 that he was contributing $100 million to the New York Public Library to fund their expansion plans. They also named their new extension after him. It’s not surprising that Stephen A. Schwarzman is acknowledged as one of the United States’ elite — Times Magazine last year appointed Stephen A. Schwarzman as one of the one hundred most influential people alive today. His rise in the business and financial world has been nothing short of amazing, not to mention the fact that his unstinting support of music and the liberal arts has inspired everyone around him.

It seems that at the moment, Stephen has it all. To sum up, Stephen A. Schwarzman is an individual who has taken advantage of every opportunity given to him, yet he has at the same time used his fortune to try to better the lives of his countrymen.
