What Is Myopia?

Nearsightedness is when the eyes focus incorrectly, making distant targets appear fuzzy.

A nearsighted man sees near targets clearly, while targets in the distance are blurry. Therefore, someone with myopia tends to squint when viewing far away objects. This characteristic is the cornerstone of the word “myopia,” which comes from two Greek words: myein, meaning shut, and ops, meaning eye.

Jaeger charts are used to assess a individual’s near vision. A Snellen chart will be better for assessing somebody’s distant vision. A nearsighted woman won’t be able to view the image from a Snellen chart with great clarity and so the letters looked fuzzy and unfocussed.

It occurs when the physical length of the eye is greater than the optical length. And so, Myopia often develops in the rapidly growing school-aged child or teenager, and progresses during the growth years, requiring frequent alterations in glasses or contact lenses. It usually stops progressing as growth is completed in the early twenties.

So whilst young people are the most likely to get Myopia. It happens in equal numbers between boys and girls. If there is family history, then somepeople are most likely to have it.

If you are myopic, then you are likely to need to the local opticians and see whether I could get Designer spectacles online. Just go to an actual optician for the prescription and request a copy of the prescriptions.
