The Latest Trend in Interior Design

In many of the industry magazines it has been noted recently that sales of striped home carpet ideas have grown by 200% this year as leading trends in the fashion industry continue to influence interior design, providing brilliant, hip flooring options for the home.

For a long while it has been noted that there is a relationship between interior trends and fashion; there is also an agreement amongst those that work in the interior design industry that it’s great fun to be working with carpet again after years of having to focus on alternative flooring choices such as wood. Stripes can be put to effective use in flooring and can be used as a great design tool. They can be used to elongate rooms, alter perspective, and mesh much wider colour palettes than you’d usually be able to use.

It’s widely agreed among those in the fashion and interior design industry that a lot of the iconic styles which were synonymous with the Seventies have started to make another appearance in regards to carpet. In terms of colour, on trend customers as well as interior designers have been requesting old-school 70’s shades such as deep purple, tangerine orange, and forest green.

The online carpet retailer Fun on the Floor are creating a unique space to showcase such carpet ideas. This unique house will be known as the Fun on the Floor house and will act as a showroom through a wide range of creatively designed rooms that feature carpet in stunning, creative and unique ways based on current popular trends with interior designers. The house will initially be open by invitation to trade, national, consumer, regional journalists as well as key influencers such as interior designers, production companies for a free shoot location up until December.

To mark the re-emergence of a passion for carpets Danielle Proud, a well known interior designer, is creating a fantastic, themed, styled space that features six contrasting themed rooms. The Fun on the Floor house will demonstrate how carpet is a material that can transform a home without costing an arm and a leg through a combination of texture, style and colour. People who pop in for a look can expect to explore the sensorial nature of carpet, appreciate its luxurious look and enjoy the comfortable feeling underfoot – as well appreciate the sound absorbent qualities such a carpet provides.

Premier fashion designers such as Paul Smith have played a pivotal role in promoting the bold colour palettes we now see in striped carpet collections. These new styles are being given headline space in the interior design industry as well as featuring on the coolest floors across the country. Bright coloured stripes can add an extra something to rooms which are neutral in colour, or make a less overt impact, complementing different scale striped soft furnishings.
