Kathy Liebert: Breaking Poker Boundaries

Far from the conventional image of a professional poker player, Tennessee native Kathy Liebert demonstrates that poker is a game that everyone can play on equal footing. She is famous for making strides towards gender equality in the poker world, particularly for the fact that she was the first woman to win a tournament prize of $1,000,000. Her example of financial gain in a male dominated world paved the way for the recent batch of female players who are competing on equal footing with the men.

She has appeared on the World Poker Tour, and made many final tables. In addition, she has played in the World Speed Poker Open, the World Series of Poker, and Poker Royale: Battle of the Sexes. In the World Speed Poker Open, she was asked to provide commentary on the final round after being eliminated, showing that her expert opinion is widely respected in the poker world.

She has only won one World Series of Poker bracelet in her career, but consistently cashes. Financially, she is the most successful female poker player, as she has won more prize money in her career than any other female player to date. She invests her money in the stock market, another example of how she is able to effectively manage risk for huge rewards.
