Resources for Parents of ADD or ADHD Children

As a parent, there are many issues that may arise with your child’s health and development. It is important to closely monitor your child’s behavior so that you can be aware of any difficulties or red flags that arise. If you are concerned with whether or not your child has an attention deficit disorder, you will need to educate yourself regarding ADD vs. ADHD. Your child’s pediatrician is a good resource to find out more about these disorders. You can also do some research on the Internet to find out about the disorders as well. Sometimes you will find parenting forums online where people share information about their experiences regarding these disorders.

My four year old child was recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, otherwise known as ADD. He has problems focusing on tasks and cannot sit still to read a book from cover to cover. I am concerned that he actually has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder because of his hyperactive tendencies. However, his pediatrician does not. I am wondering if anyone else out there has experienced a confusion regarding ADD vs. ADHD. My child does not exhibit his hyperactivity at the pediatrician’s office for some unknown reason. However, at home and at school, and everywhere else, he is totally hyperactive. I think he needs to be reassessed.
